Stopped by the US Border patrol at fence!

Noticed on TripAdvisor the Most South West point in lower 48. It's Border Field State Park on the US/Mexico border. The park is along the ocean and a fence in the water separates the US/MX border.

Others contrasted busy MX side with families, a bull ring, and city next to border with US side, stark, few people, and heavy border patrols. On US side you have to park your car and walk 1.5 miles because the road is 'flooded'... So we walked to the fence to touch it, as others mentioned and some mentioned some US citizens talk to their families in MX at the fence. Brenda talked to a MX local through the fence, and suddenly from up the hill a US border patrol turned on lights and came down, and said didn't you see sign. Uh no, we thought the fence was a sign!. Guess not so we apologized and left.
