Desolation Canyon hike in Death Valley, no shortcu

Near campground were several hikes. Golden Canyon, is popular and crowded. Hiking book, listed next canyon over, similar views, without signs, next to parking lot destroyed by flood is Desolation Canyon. Sounds more interesting..

Was beautiful canyon with steep climb over canyon walls to overlook. Rather than go back down steep reverse descents thought to take 'shortcut' on road from overlook, what could possibly go wrong, it added about extra hour, so 4 hours in total hike, and got back to van at sunset. Good thing its Winter in Death Valley now LOL.
