Nez Perce Big Hole National Monument

Stop along the way, didn't know what to expect. Very remote site.

Park Ranger did a great job explaining how the conflict between the US Army and the Nez Perce Indians happened at this location.

The conflict originated by some Indians agreeing to a Treaty and staying on a reservation. And some of the other Indians didn't agree to the treaty. The US Army was given the directive to force them onto a reservation, and a an accidental shooting initiated the Army's attack of the Indians at this location. It began a long trial of Indian movement and pursuit by the Army.
