Very crowded area! Go in the morning. Was nice, but still it's just a waterfall. Should there be 50 cars to hike to it?

Blue Ridge Parkway

Near the Appalachian Trail we noticed signs for the Parkway. Since it's another East Coast goal, we had to drive further to see that while in the area!. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs for 469 miles through VA & NC. It runs mostly along Blue Ridge Mountains in the Appalachian Mountains.
We only drove about 20 miles on it this time though.

Hiking the Appalachian Trail !

For a few miles at least!

Near Clingmans Dome is a section of the Appalachian Trail. It's well known in the US & a hiking goal for many hikers. We did hike about 4 miles on it. Not quite the whole 2,000 miles, but still we did hike the AT !

The Appalachian Trail or simply the A.T., is a hiking trail in the Eastern US between GA & Maine. The trail is about 2,200 miles long.

Clingmans Dome

Took a winding 2 lane road in Smoky Mountains Nat. Park to Clingmans Dome. It's 6,643 feet high & 2nd highest point E of the Mississippi.
Glad we went early in the day at 8 am to beat the other tourists, all coming in as we left.

Rocky Top, TN

Norris Dam State Park

View Denzil & Brenda Eastern US Travels on Vanabout's travel map.

First project of the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) and working w/ the CCC to build a hydro electric dam.
A very humid, but nice campground. Denzil noticed that although we were next to a hydroelectric dam making lots of electricity for the grid, the charging station near the office was powered by solar. Too funny.'
