Drove through N. Cascades. starting to get more crowded in advance of Labor Day Weekend. Beautiful park though and Diablo lake is so beautiful and blue from the glacier.

Started the day in Winthrop at a small bakery. Looking at view from room on our anniversary with small deck. On way into Cascades National park to spend night in campground.

Drive was filled with wheat fields, then a bunch of nothing with rocks. Then mile after mile of apple orchards getting close to picking season. Huge amounts of apple crates and porta potties and buses for workers queing up for the Season.

Stayed in Winthrop and old west mountain city and found for sale in IGA the same crates of apples with stems and leaves. Nothing like right at the source and only $.89 a pound! super fresh too.

Long drive from winding roads in Idaho, to steep mountains in Eastern Washington with wheat fields, to a little town 4 hrs from N. Cascades National Park, the next stop.

Brenda and her friend, Debby had talked a lot about Idaho. You rarely hear any news of Idaho, and neither knew anyone that had been there.. So yes, Idaho does indeed exist, and as it turns out, Hwy 12 is a very beautiful winding road. Nice drive filled with motorcycles enjoying the scenery.
