Brenda wanted to visit Salem and see history of the 1692 witch trials. From Wikipedia below. (Also we found nice campsite in Salem Harbor & transport into Boston).
'The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings & prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial MA from Feb 1692 - May 1693. The trials resulted in the executions of 20 people, 14 women, and all but one by hanging. 5 others died in prison. . It only ended when the Governor's Wife was accused of Witchcraft, and he released all prisoners.

The episode is one of Colonial America's most notorious cases of mass hysteria. It has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations, and lapses in due process.[1] It was not unique, but a Colonial American example of the much broader phenomenon of witch trials in the early modern period, which took place also in Europe. Many historians consider the lasting effects of the trials to have been highly influential in subsequent United States history. According to historian George Lincoln Burr, "the Salem witchcraft was the rock on which the theocracy shattered."[2]

Anniversary in Cape Cod area - Where Movie 'Jaws' Filmed

View Denzil & Brenda Eastern US Travels on Vanabout's travel map.

We weren't sure where we might end up on our 15th wedding anniversary. But 2 days before we looked at map, and thought it would be nice to stay near Cape Cod Seashore and drive there for the day. It was a nice break from camping and we enjoyed the drive along the ocean and lobster rolls.
We were a little concerned about the constant shark flag. And after all, Martha's Vineyard on Cape Cod was where the Movie, "Jaws" was filmed.....!

9/11 Memorial in NYC

View Denzil & Brenda Eastern US Travels on Vanabout's travel map.

We visited the 9/11 site in NYC 10 years ago in 2007. Back then it was still untouched other than debris removal from 9/11/2001.
This time there was a moving monument, and heavy security. The US flag that flew over the World Trade Center after the attacks has been returned & displayed there.

Touching tribute film highlighting each victim's family story, narrated by family. Shocking to see the demolished basement stairs that survived and saved a group of people in the hallway. Hard to believe it has already been 16 years.
