Philadelphia, PA (Liberty Bell & Indepencence Hall)

Independence Hall is the building where both the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted. It was humbling to see the actual courthouse where they changed the seal from England to US seal. and also the apartment where the Constitution was drafted and the rough drafts.

The Liberty Bell bears a timeless message: "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof"

On way to visit Hershey, PA for Denzil's Dad. Denzil's parent's had planned to go, but didn't get to. So we went and took a tour for them. (ps), going to Chocolate World in Summer on a Saturday afternoon is a bad idea!

Stopped by Gettysburg, PA on the way there. Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

9/11 Memorial for Flight 93 Heroes

Patti had another vacation day, so we all drove to Shanksville, PA about 3 hours from DC. It's the site of Flight 93 heroes on 9/11. The other 3, 9/11 planes had crashed into the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon. Flight 93 heard reports, & decided to fight back. They did their best & due to their actions, saved more lives as hijackers had another target. Very sad to hear their phone calls to their loved ones change from 'we are ok, but hijacked' ; to 'we heard news, and voted to storm cockpit back from hijackers'. Brave people...</p>

Ford Theatre (Where Pres. Lincoln was killed)

View Denzil & Brenda Eastern US Travels on Vanabout's travel map.

Went to visit the Ford Theatre (where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated) by John Wilkes Booth. It is still open for plays? But it was historic to see the booth where he was sitting and the events of the day for each person. Next door is the house where he died, & also a Lincoln Leadership Memorial.

Very interesting as all parties and leaders still quote Lincoln all these years later. He was way ahead of his time for sure. Moving quote of Abraham Lincoln's... "Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves, and under a just god, can not long retain it"

Drove from NC to DC area to visit with Brenda's Sister, Patti.
Nice it was weekend, to spend time w/Patti & her family. They went with us to Harpers Ferry, Manassas Battlefield, and Wolf Trap Performing arts center. All 3 are Nat. Parks, and they hadn't been to last 2 yet. Hard to find the Wolf Trap arts center. it's actually an outdoor concert arena & it was neat because the Beach Boys were playing there then. Didn't have tickets though..

Harpers Ferry, WV:
